After the opening of his Institute in Porto Alegre in December of 2006, Ronaldinho has launched a branch of the Ronaldinho Gaúcho Institute in Salvador with his brother Assis. Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia, northeast of Brazil.  Assis is responsible for the Institute activities. Ronnie was in Bahia – where he feels “at home” - on Saturday June 27  for the opening ceremony and was received by the state’s governor, Jacques Wagner, and his wife, Fátima Mendonça.

The project will be 15 month long and will provide football, volleyball and basketball activities for 2,000 children and teenagers (10 to 17 years-old). Also, there will be a professional  IT course (Information Technology).

Dunga was asked about Ronaldinho on Saturday, one day before playing the Confederations Cup final against USA. Dunga was asked once again about Ronaldinho and his possible presence at the next qualifying matches and next year’s World Cup.

Brazilian coach answered: “I would love to have Ronaldinho back at the team. But that’s not up to me, that’s up to him. It depends on how much he wants
it and how fit he is.”

Roni is nominated for the “Golden Foot” award

Ronaldinho is nominated for the “Golden Foot” award, given by the World Champions Club from Monte Carlo. Only players who are at least 29 years-old - and are still playing - can be nominated, so this is Ronaldinho’s first appearance. Nominees’ list includes David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Francesco Totti, among others. If he wins it, Ronaldinho won’t be the only Brazilian player rewarded.

Ronaldo was the Golden Foot in 2006 and Roberto Carlos won last year’s edition, while Aldair, Romário, Zico and Rivellino have won the “All time legends” award. Nilton Santos, 84 years-old, will be honored this year. The winner leaves his footprints on the “Champions Promenade”; therefore he can only win it once.

Meanwhile, Ronaldinho has just won the “Top of Mind” award, given by the “Amanhã” magazine from Rio Grande do Sul. The award consisted in a research done with 1200 people aged from 16 to 65. Ronaldinho was the state’s most remembered person and won the award for the fifth time.  He was represented at the ceremony, which took place on May 26, by his mom, Miguelina.

Ronaldo and Ronaldinho left out, made way for younger players

Brazil’s manager shocked everybody when he didn’t include Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in Brazil’s roster. So they would not be there for world cup qualifiers and the confederations cup.

Confederations cup is scheduled for June 14–28 in South Africa while the World Cup 2010 qualifiers will be on June 6 (Uruguay) and June 10 (Paraguay).

Brazil is a solid second after Paraguay and just need to be in the top four in South America rankings automatically qualify for the World Cup.

The Brazilian team is in Group B with Egypt, Italy and the United States in the Confederations Cup.

Ronaldinho all set for a season end transfer from Milan

After a highly disappointing season at AC Milan during which he suffered from injuries for the most part of the first half and a shockingly bad form during the rest, Ronaldinho is reported to leave the Rossoneri after the end of the current season. Though there haven’t been any reactions from both Milan and Ronaldinho personally, the rumors have been widespread and believed by most persons around the world. Ancelotti rests faith in Ronaldinho

Ac Milan’s prodigious coach Carlo Ancelotti has asserted that he stills rests his faith in star Brazilian striker and playmaker Ronaldinho. Ancelotti exclaimed this in a post match interview after Milan’s thrilling 2-0 victory over Lecce in which Ronaldinho came off the bench to score one and set up the other.

Ancelotti asserted that Ronaldinho has been in a bad patch of late both in his form and fitness but he will be the one to watch out for, when he is at his peak. Ancelotti also said that he counts him in his plans for Milan’s next Serie A season and Champions’ League. This comes as pleasant news for Ronaldinho’s fans at Milan after wide speculations of his transfers to Manchester City and Real Madrid.

On a day when there were wide spread news about Ronaldinho’s transfer to Real Madrid at the end of the current season, Ancelotti’s remarks cleared any doubts over the issue. The rumor had previously triggered the wrath of Ronaldinho’s Spanish fans at his previous club and Madrid’s rivals Barcelona.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONALDINHO!

It was a very informal but exciting gathering for AC Milan’s players when they met up for the extravagant birthday party of Ronaldinho. The Brazilian star turned 29 this on March 21, 2009. The day was filled with quite a few surprises as AC Milan spent thousands and thousands of money to show the faith it still has in its star striker.

Milan’s players gathered in Milanello for a training session to get ready for the weekend’s match against Napoli. A sweet surprise awaited them during the lunch break when Milan’s officials announced a luxurious party to celebrate their leading star’s birthday.

The party was filled with rich and wonderful cakes served along with rich champagne. Ronaldinho enjoyed the moment along with the players and a few officials. He was showered with wishes from them and from his numerous fans.

AC Milan’s official website had earlier put up quotes wishing the superstar. They also added that they were looking forward to the players for a few more years to come. An official had also stated that it was worth spending the bucks to celebrate the birthday of such a great player.

Ronaldinho, in an official statement, thanked his club for the party and added that he would put up a good show in the weekend match against Napoli.
